My Hate-Love Relationship

Dear Body,

I. HATE. YOU. I don’t understand why you just won’t cooperate with me. I feed you multiple times throughout the day — all the great tasting food too! Burgers, fries, pizza — even those small fried dumplings at the Chinese restaurant down the street! You also get all the name brand liquids you want; Coke, Starbucks, Monster – I give you them all. Even though you misbehave, I still give you the BIGGEST hugs with those $100 weight loss wraps. You still insist on being a pain. You bulge out of the top of my pants — you even refuse to let me wear tank tops in this 100 degree humid weather! Do you love to embarrass me with those bingo arms or something? Things have got to change, Body!

Dear Body,

I still hate you. I let you stay up late every night of the week and how do you repay me? When it’s time to perform — you get an attitude! You were SO slow during training today. When it was time to run, you barely moved. When it was time to squat, you wouldn’t go deep enough. Didn’t you get the memo, “Squat Down For Butt”? Let’s not even talk about how long it took you to complete the workout. Even the scale agrees with me — you’re horrible! It complains every time you go to visit. You took so long to get things done — it’s going to be another drive-thru night for us again. Body, things have REALLY got to change.

Dear Body,

You really showed your butt today. After that visit to the doctors’ office today — you’re in worse shape than I thought! The doc says that what you call “fluffy” — is really “overweight”. You’ve got high cholesterol, high blood pressure AND you’re a great candidate for Type 1 diabetes! Unfortunately, body – THAT number 1 does not make you a winner. Things have got to change.

Dear Body,

It’s been years since I have shown you love, so I’ve decided to spend some quality time with you. I am going to cook you a great meal! It may take a little longer than the drive thru — but it’ll be made with love. I’ve also decided to make this a habit and plan your meals for the entire week. Nothing but lean meats and veggies — a meal that you will be proud of! Oh – and guess what I’ll wash it down with? Some nice, cool, refreshing H2O to keep you hydrated. I think that you should get in bed early tonight. You’ve got a long week ahead of you and need your rest to tackle everything! No, Body – you are not on punishment. I told you things had to change, so I’m getting you on the right track.

Dear Body,

You were AWESOME today! You didn’t “have” to hit the snooze button 3 times before getting up this morning. You weren’t even sluggish during work today. Did I mention you moved like a champion during our workout? Well, you did! Sure, you were a little winded — but you pushed through it and certainly didn’t quit. Your attitude is looking better and better every single day. Even the scale agrees (even though you don’t visit it too often anymore). Body, you are changing — and I am so proud of you.
